Contemporary Craft Fair in Pasadena November 2013

If you are in the Southern California area and looking for something fun to do this weekend, check out the Contemporary Craft Fair in Pasadena this weekend at the Pasadena Convention Center. This event is weekend long and opens from 10am to 6pm today and Saturday Nov 1st & 2nd 2013 and Sunday, Nov 3rd 2013 from 10am to 5pm.

The Contemporary Crafts Market has been a showcase for burgeoning and established talent since its inception 28 years ago. The market brings together an eclectic mix of artisans, while also allowing visitors to meet the artists behind some of the nation’s finest crafts.

This event is just in time for the holidays,  returning as the West Coast’s premiere event for one-of-a-kind functional and decorative crafts. The November market will feature the distinctive works of approximately 200 of the nation’s finest artists — ranging from intricate jewelry, unique glassware and ceramics to hand-painted textiles, custom furniture, mixed-media creations and much more. All items on display and for sale have been jury-selected for their exceptional quality.

One person I am looking forward to meet is Artist Yumi Ueno’s. Ueno’s designs are an exploration of three dimensional geometric abstraction. Using precious and semi-precious stones with silver and gold, Ueno’s work emphasizes the importance and beauty of color, pattern and texture. Ueno’s inspiration comes from her memories of reading fairytales as a child, resulting in whimsical pieces that evoke imagination and amusement.
